Weed abatement: city to clear nuisances, assess costs as liens

A Resolution pursuant to §11-40-1, §38-2-9, 11-47-19, §11-47-11 and §11-43-55 of the Code of Alabama, 1975, to authorize the Mayor to expend funds and execute agreements for the Birmingham Police Department (“BPD”) to host a Back-to-School Bookbag Giveaway and Resource Fair for the inhabitants of the City at the Birmingham Crossplex on Saturday August 1, 2026. The Mayor and the Chief of Police are authorized to solicit generically, through such means as billboards, radio ads or other indirect means, participation of local vendors in the event and donations of items to provide for the care and emotional support of poor and needy children attending schools within the City. The event will promote the resources of the City, allow participating vendors to assist those children in need of care by providing access to free school supplies and bookbags for use in school activities. The Mayor shall be authorized to execute such contracts as may be necessary for the hosting of the BPD event, promotion of the associated resources of the City and providing for the care and emotional support of poor and needy school children through vendor/sponsor participation in the event, in accordance with Birmingham General City Code §3-1-7. A Resolution pursuant to §11-40-1, §11-47-19, §11-47-11 and §11-43-55 of the Code of Alabama, 1975, to authorize the Mayor and the Birmingham Police Department (“BPD”), to host events during the National Night Out in August, to be held on August 4, 2026. All events planned for National Night Out in August will be free and open to the public. The Mayor and the Chief of Police are authorized to solicit generically, through such means as billboards, radio ads or other indirect means, participation of local vendors in the event and donations of food and food items to be provided free of charge to the citizens attending the events. The events will provide entertainment to the inhabitants of the city and promote the law enforcement resources of the City. The Mayor shall be authorized to execute such contracts as may be necessary for the hosting of the BPD events, and promotion of the associated resources of the City, in accordance with Birmingham General City Code §3-1-7.
