City to settle State Auto claim for up to $25,000
If approved, the city would pay up to $25,000 from the general fund to settle a claim filed by Wilber & Associates on behalf of State Auto Company and UAB. The funds come from existing city accounts.
Settlement funds help pay for opioid-addiction treatment and prevention programs in the city. This is the first major payout from a nationwide litigation against pharmaceutical companies over their role in the opioid crisis.
